Together at Home: Resources for Youth and Families is a virtual conference designed specifically for families and students to finish the school year strong. Presenters will offer twenty-minute sessions to assist with learning in a virtual environment. Several sessions have been specially designed just for students.

10:30 a.m.: Step by Step – Covid-19 Essential Workers Support Group – LIVE

The Project was developed after gathering insight from mental health practitioners, medical providers, and other essential personnel (cashiers, restaurant employees, truck drivers, etc) who share the unique stressors mentally and emotionally related to serving and treating individuals on the frontlines of COVID-19.

Upon further research, other associations and mental health corporations are providing support groups similar to the proposed modality above, however, few specifically for professionals treating those with COVID-19. Furthermore, other associations such as the American Society of Addiction Medicine, are not only promoting the importance of the utilization of online support groups, but outlines support group etiquette. MHAPA is a statewide, proactive organization. As such, this project will be offered throughout the state of Pennsylvania.

2:30 p.m.: MOVE it Forward, Perfect Vision 20/20 – LIVE

What is a vision board? What should it look like? How do I involve youth in this process? All these questions and more will be answered at our Vision Sessions, hosted by Youth MOVE National staff. We will walk through ways to participate in this year’s Children’s Mental Health Awareness campaign and create your own vision board.

Training: Noelia Rivera-Calderón, Esq. (she/her or they/them) is an attorney, former teacher, and Tom Steel Fellow at the National Women’s Law Center. Their work focuses on ensuring safe and supportive learning environments for students, particularly LGBTQ+ students of color. At NWLC, she spearheaded the report “We Are Not Invisible/No Somos Invisibles: Latina Girls, Mental Health, and Philadelphia Schools” and leads ongoing advocacy for Latina mental health in schools at the federal and local levels.

Trauma 101, Trauma 102 and Trauma 103 — sessions are fully booked

Lakeside Global Inc. offers several two-hour workshops that inform participants on some of the basic physical, mental, and social outcomes of trauma. These workshops are topical and contextual to the issues that we encounter with children and adults impacted by trauma with the necessary information and basic skills required to be trauma-sensitive. 

These training are being done virtually, and live, during Mental Health Awareness 2020.
